Description: Rocky Mountain National Park is 416 square miles of mountain beauty. There area alpine flowers, clear lakes, mountain streams, and tons of wildlife to enjoy. Park visitors can take scenic drives or hikes, go climbing and mountaineering, fishing, camping (in designated campsites), and even go horseback riding. The Park is also a popular place for weddings.

Description: Great Plains park is a 50-acre city park that has two major hiking trails, Powerline Trail and Conservatory Trail. Great Plains has an outdoor "spray grounds," as well as multiple playgrounds, picnic shelters, softball diamond, sports field, basketball courts, and fitness stations.

Description: Cherry Creek Park surrounds a reservoir giving visitors lots of activities. The park has 12 miles of paved biking trails, as well as 35 miles of multi-use trails, which are also used by hikers and horseback riders, and depending on the season, cross country skiers. The park is also a popular summer boating destination. Other activities vary by season, but include jet skiing, ice skating, model plane flying, sledding, snow shoeing, swimming, picnicking, and bird watching.

Description: Barr Lake State Park is northeast of the Denver area. Cyclists, hikers, and horseback riders share the 9 mile multi-use trail that circles Barr Lake. There are over 350 species of bird for the bird watcher to enjoy, as well as a Nature Center with displays about the local wildlife. Fishermen, boaters, kayakers, and canoeists share the calm lake, and powerboats are only allowed for trolling.

Description: Chatfield State Park is a great stop for boaters and fishermen of all types to enjoy the reservoir's waters. Boat rentals are also available from the on site marina. There are also almost 200 campsites available in Chatfield, as well as 10 group camping sites. There are 25 miles of multi-use trails in Chatfield, also.

The Denver Meadows RV park is open yea round and has 278 sites with water, electric, and sewer. On the grounds there is a recreation room, restrooms, showers, and BBQ area.

Description: Flying Saucer RV Park is open year round, but note that there are no tents allowed. The park is adjacent to RiverPoint at Sheridan (shopping, theater, dining). There is also fishing and golf within 15 minutes of the park.

Description: A visit to the North Fork Ranch offers a unique rustic getaway with activities for the whole family. There is rafting, horseback riding, hiking, archery lessons, swimming pool, hot tub, and even an on call massage therapist. There are no tents or RVs allowed here, but their are cabins and lodges for rent to make the trip complete. The ranch is also an Orvis endorsed fly fishing lodge.

Description: The campgrounds offer 35 RV sites and 26 tent capable sites. There is also a lodge on site that is available for rent for social functions.Amenities include volleyball, horseshoes, hiking trails, bike trails, basketball court, and showers. Within Genesee Park there are also various public use activities such as picnic tables, grills, historic stone shelters, multi use trails, and great wildlife viewing.

Description: Estes Park KOA has multiple camping options available for the Colorado traveler. There are cabins or cottages available to rent, as well as full service RV sites, and even tent sites. On site there is a basketball court, playground, game room, free WiFi, ice cream socials, pancake breakfasts, and a convenience store for your forgotten camping needs. The Estes Park KOA is right next two Rocky Mountain National Park, and a short drive to Sombrero Ranch Stables if you want to go horseback riding. There is also fly fishing, a boat marina, and a family fun center within 1/2 a mile of the KOA grounds.
